The Jefferson Hotel is one of Richmond’s most iconic spots for couple’s portraits; elegant, romantic, and totally timeless. With its sweeping grand staircase, marble columns, and chandelier-filled lobby, the hotel gives your photos a classic, luxurious feel without needing much posing or setup.
Best Spots for Photos
The Grand Staircase for dramatic, formal portraits
The Rotunda & Lobby for glowing, architectural backdrops
Hotel Suites for intimate, relaxed shots
The Front Entrance for a historic, outdoor look

Tips Before You Go
Check with the hotel about timing. Weekdays or earlier in the day are usually quieter. Coordinating with staff ensures you can access the staircase or lobby without crowds. You also need to have permission in order to shoot here - they're pretty strict about that.
Also, keep in mind that because of the layout, it can be difficult to setup lighting, so be prepared to shoot natural and keep in mind the locations and angles of the light fixtures so you can get the best looking photos.
Why Couples Love It
It’s indoors, stunning year-round, and feels instantly special. If you want portraits that look polished, romantic, and unmistakably Richmond, The Jefferson is a perfect choice.
